|MONDAY MICHIRU NEWSLETTER -- AUGUST 2007 (part 2)|

Also out on September 19th will be yet another compilation of my works (personally I think it's overkill on these compilations, but I understand the record labels are desperate to make money, besides which there's a whole generation of Japanese who have never heard my stuff). This time my ex-manager and currently of producer fame Soul Source Productions, Kenichi Yanai, is putting together a collection of works featuring my remixes, collaborations and featured tracks, including a new remix of "You Make Me" by a new unit from Japan that is making waves in the underground, Studio Apartment. Entitled CO, the following is a list of what's to be included:
You Make Me (Studio Apartment remix)
Tiger Eyes / Jazztronik
The Real Thing / Soul Source Production
Sunshine After the Rain / Monday Michiru (MAW 12")
Butterfly / Mondo Grosso
A.D.D.P / m-flo
Shooting Star / Soul Source Production
New Beginnings / Monday Michiru (collaboration with Da Lata)
Higher (Joe Claussell's Spiritual Life Vocal) / Monday Michiru
And it's official: m-flo's July 21 Yokohama Arena "Cosmicolor" Tour concert which I participated in will be released as a DVD sometime in October/November (currently it is aiming for an October 31 release date). Featured guests include Chara, Bonnie Pink, BoA, Namie Amuro, Lisa, Monkey Majik, Double, Alex (from Korea), and a host of others (some 20 or so in all). Never did I think I'd be in such a stage (I was the grandma of the cast for sure!), but it was actually a lot of fun!
FUTURE DATES -- By now, many of you in Japan have probably seen the magazine and newspaper ads for the Mastercard event in which my mother and I will be doing a duet on November 1st at Club Ikspiari near Tokyo's Disneyland. This is a closed event in which the audience will be comprised of those living in Japan who spend 5,000 yen on their Mastercard overseas and send in a postcard who have a chance at being chosen to attend.
We're still in talks at this point, but it is highly likely that I'll be doing a few days of club gigs around Japan in a duet format, probably between November 2-4. Possible cities include Kyoto, Kagoshima and Sendai. Check in for more as things progress.
I'm also in talks with the Jak Jazz Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia for their annual jazz festival with my band, as well as with Sasha's quintet. Nothing is confirmed at the moment, so I'll keep y'all posted.
That's it for now! I know many of you are wondering what I'm doing about the "Flow" project. Not to make excuses, but I was really wiped out after all that I've been doing since the beginning of the year, and now that the tour is over and I don't have anything that is TERRIBLY pressing that needs to be done yesterday, I am trying to enjoy the summer with our son who is off school and not in camp. Still working out the situation with my computer -- gotta get a new one before I can dive into the project. One thing's for sure, rest is just as important as work, and it's good to put some sun rays and good memories under the belt for colder and work-filled months as a reservoir for positivity that I'd like to put into the "Flow" project.
Enjoy your summer!
